Ultrasound imaging is safe, non-invasive and does not use radiation. It is also an excellent alternative to MRI because there is minimal wait time, no referral required, cost-effective and can actually provide a better images of structures like tendons. Best of all, ultrasound images are captured in real-time, allowing your physiotherapist to view the structures in question in movement. This dynamic element makes it an effective clinical tool in the detection and treatment of chronic neck, low back, and pelvic girdle pain. Ultrasound imaging can also be used in the form of biofeedback to re-educate your body in the proper co-ordination and succession of muscle contraction during exercise.
